H.Samuel has almost 400 stores nationwide and is part of the Signet Jewelers Ltd, the world's largest specialist jeweller. The H.Samuel story began in 1862 when Harriet Samuel took over her father-in-law's clock-making business in Liverpool. Harriet moved the business to Manchester's Market Street and ran the mail order side. Her son developed the retail area.
The first H.Samuel retail store opened in Preston in 1890, closely followed by branches in Rochdale and throughout Lancashire. To accommodate the growing business, the company moved to large headquarters in Birmingham in 1912.

  After my boyfriend and I returned from our holiday where he had proposed, I had taken my ring back into H Samuels to be re-sized. I was advised it would take 3 weeks to be altered. When it did arrive back in store it was still measuring at exactly the same size, which made me wonder if my ring ever left the store at all. So again they sent my ring off again and again I had to wait another 3 weeks. 3 weeks later my ring arrives in store this time it was still measuring just over the size I needed..

  I bought an 18kt gold engagement ring i a hsamuls shop in Galway Ireland The ring was only three years old and I brought it in to the shop to get it cleaned and inspected. I was informed that there was alot of damage done to ring. I could not believe it because the ring was only used as a dress ring and was not always on my finger. I was informed the ring would cost over 600 euros to get repaired. I wrote to quality control in England and the outcome of that was to send ring to England and I did..
